A family is searching for answers after a Vans Warped Tour attendee reportedly suffered a traumatic brain injury during the festival’s Long Beach, California stop on July 26th.
The incident has come to light as Vans Warped Tour recently announced plans for its 2027 event, which is scheduled to take place from July 24th-27th, 2027 at the Shoreline Waterfront in Long Beach.
According to discussions that emerged on the Warped Tour subreddit and the Long Beach Warped Tour Facebook group, attendee David Granado Jr. was seriously injured at some point during or around Thrice’s performance on Sunday evening.
Granado attended the festival alongside his brother, Alejandro Granado, but the two reportedly split up to watch different bands performing on separate stages.
Based on statements Alejandro shared online, he and his brother had been separated for approximately 90 minutes before David was reportedly admitted to a hospital shortly after 8:00 p.m. local time.
Information gathered through social media posts and conversations with other attendees suggests that David may have initially walked himself to a medical tent before later being transported to a hospital for treatment.
According to Alejandro’s account, doctors determined that David had suffered a severe brain injury and subsequently performed multiple surgeries. As of this writing, official details regarding the circumstances surrounding the injury have not been publicly released.
Alejandro has also expressed frustration over what he says has been a lack of information surrounding the incident.
In comments shared online, he claimed that David’s emergency contact was not notified after he arrived at a medical tent or after he was transported to the hospital.
At this time, many questions surrounding the incident remain unanswered, including how the injury occurred and what events led to David requiring emergency medical treatment.
We will provide updates as additional verified information becomes available.
