Vulvodynia Launch Open Auditions For New Vocalist Following Recent Departures

South African deathcore/death metal act Vulvodynia have officially launched open auditions in search of a new vocalist. The group has experienced ongoing instability in the role, having cycled through two previous frontmen in the last few years.

Back in 2023, Duncan Bentley was removed from the band following a violent altercation with drummer Thomas Hughes. Guitarist Lwandile Prusent briefly stepped in on vocals until Zion Bittenbender joined in October 2025, allowing Prusent to return to his primary guitar duties. However, Bittenbender’s tenure was short-lived amid allegations of sexual misconduct and assault, which he denied, and the band officially parted ways with him this past March.

Now, Vulvodynia are seeking a new frontman with a simpler set of instructions. Prospective vocalists are asked to submit a cover of a song from the band’s latest album, 2024’s Entabeni. The band detailed the audition process on social media:

“Rules: Record a vocal cover of your favourite song from Entabeni (preferably one take). Post it on your socials and tag #vulvoauditions. Email your audition video to vulvoauditions@gmail.com. Auditions end on April 30th.”

This marks the latest chapter in the band’s turbulent search for a permanent vocalist, as they continue to push forward while maintaining their signature brutal deathcore sound.
