The Exploited Vocalist Wattie Buchan Hospitalized After Collapsing Onstage In Germany

The Exploited frontman Wattie Buchan was hospitalized over the weekend after collapsing during a live performance in Germany.

The incident occurred on Saturday, January 31, while the veteran Scottish punk outfit were performing in Wiesbaden. Buchan was taken to a nearby hospital following the onstage collapse, prompting the band to cancel several upcoming tour dates while he remains under medical observation.

In a statement shared on February 1st, The Exploited addressed the situation and provided an update on Buchan’s condition:

“As Wattie collapsed yesterday during the show in Wiesbaden, Germany, we have to cancel the upcoming gigs in Tallinn and Riga. We will try to find new dates ASAP. Rostock and Bern we will announce as soon as we have more info.”

“Wattie is in hospital right now for observation and check-ups. He had the flu the last days and gets dehydrated – that’s why he collapsed.”

“Thanks and love to all the nice people who took and immediately gave first aid. We will keep you updated!”

According to the band, Buchan had been dealing with the flu in the days leading up to the performance, with dehydration cited as the primary cause of the incident.

This marks at least the third time since 2014 that Buchan has experienced serious health complications while on tour. Most notably, he previously suffered apparent heart-related issues during a performance in Portugal, leading to further concern whenever medical incidents arise during the band’s live shows.

No further updates on Buchan’s condition have been issued at the time of publication.
