    Ex-VISCERAL DISGORGE Drummer William Denne Under Fire For Anti-LGBTQ Facebook Post (UPDATED)

    UPDATE: Visceral Disgorge has reached out to clarify that William Denne has not been a member of the band for approximately six months, as referenced in his social media post below.

    William Denne, drummer of Baltimore death metal outfit Visceral Disgorge, is facing backlash after a now-removed post on his personal Facebook account that contained multiple derogatory statements aimed at members of the LGBTQ community and included an antisemitic hashtag.

    The post appeared to be directed at British screenwriter Charlie Covell — who is nonbinary and wrote for the show Kaos — and accused Covell of “demoralizing Greek history.” Denne’s message also used explicit slurs and promoted several anti-LGBTQ hashtags, drawing swift criticism from fans and members of the metal community.

    Denne’s post, which social media users have since archived and shared before it was taken down, read in part:

So god made her a prostitute? From what i understand growing up in a Catholic country, they believe God made us but our decisions are our own. Anything you do outside of being born is a choice, even if it doesn’t seem like it. Straight people choose to be straight, not because of attraction but because of who they decide to date/ marry. Their visibility is to reassure those who have spent their entire lives being told that there’s something fundamentally wrong with them by society that the world is changing for the better and that it’s okay for them to be whoever they want to be and to love whoever they want to love (as long as it doesn’t involve hurting or preying on an unconsenting participant).

          Simply seeing a flag for half a second in the background of a tv show could be just the tipping point stopping a tormented teenager in a bigoted household from going up to his room and downing a bottle of pills.
