Experimental metalcore outfit Wiltwither have released a music video for their new single “Obsolete,” the second track to arrive from their upcoming album Pure Light. The record is set for release on October 31st via Periphery’s 3DOT Recordings.

Vocalist Nick Rendelman shared insight into the meaning behind the song and its place within the album’s narrative:
“‘Obsolete’ takes place towards the end of the album and its story, with multiple characters telepathically projecting feelings of abandonment, betrayal, and resentment onto each other. It was really important for us to find a certain aggression for this track, as it’s the most abrupt callout-of-a-song we’ve ever written. This one is for anyone who has been harmed by someone they care for, and for the human reactions that come with it.”
Pure Light marks the band’s latest step in blending atmospheric experimentation with the emotional intensity of modern metalcore, and “Obsolete” offers a glimpse of the darker, more volatile direction the record promises to explore.
