311 And Los Mirlos Reimagine Classic Hit ‘Amber’ For New Collaboration

Multi-platinum rap-rock veterans 311 have teamed with legendary Amazonian psychedelic cumbia group Los Mirlos for a newly reworked version of their hit song “Amber.”

Originally released in 2002, “Amber” became one of 311’s biggest crossover successes, eventually earning triple-platinum status. The track served as the third and final single from the band’s sixth studio album From Chaos.

The new collaboration appears on Los Mirlos’ upcoming album The World Meets Los Mirlos, a project built around cross-genre partnerships and reinterpretations. Production on the updated version of “Amber” was handled by El Dusty.

The pairing had been teased late last year when 311, while touring Latin America, brought members of Los Mirlos onstage during a live performance to hint that a joint project was in the works.

The reimagined version blends 311’s laid-back melodic style with the vibrant tropical psychedelic textures that have made Los Mirlos icons of Peruvian cumbia for decades.

For longtime fans of both acts, the collaboration offers a fresh take on a familiar favorite while bridging two very different musical worlds.
