Abbath have announced the cancellation of all of their remaining 2026 touring plans, just weeks after a troubled festival performance in Finland resulted in the band cutting their set short.
The black metal outfit issued a brief statement today, September 15, confirming that they will no longer perform any of their scheduled shows for the remainder of the year.
“Abbath have made the decision to cancel all remaining shows for 2026. We sincerely apologize to the fans, festivals, and everyone affected. Thank you for your understanding and support.”
The announcement follows the band’s August 14 appearance at the SaariHelvetti Festival in Tampere, Finland.
During the performance, vocalist and guitarist Abbath Doom Occulta took the stage without his usual stage attire before throwing down his guitar and walking offstage during the opening song, “To War!” The performance was subsequently canceled, and Abbath have not performed live since.
The band have not provided a reason for the cancellation of their remaining 2026 dates, nor have they stated whether the decision is connected to the August incident.
Abbath Doom Occulta has previously spoken publicly about struggles with substance abuse and has experienced other issues during live performances. However, no cause has been given for the August incident, and it would be speculative to connect it to any particular issue.
Further information regarding Abbath’s future live plans has yet to be announced.
