Over the past 25 years, Killswitch Engage has remained one of metalcore’s most influential and enduring acts, blending soaring melodies with crushing heaviness. Lyrically, the band has often explored themes of personal struggle, perseverance, and hope. However, their latest effort, This Consequence, out via Metal Blade Records, takes a different turn, diving headfirst into politically charged lyricism while maintaining the anthemic hooks and powerful instrumentation that have defined their career.
This Consequence kicks off with “Abandon Us,” a blistering opener that immediately signals the album’s heavier intent. Adam Dutkiewicz and Joel Stroetzel lay down an intricate, math-tinged riff before Jesse Leach launches into a guttural roar that would feel at home in a death metal track. The song’s lyrics, filled with themes of disillusionment and defiance, set the tone for an album that doesn’t shy away from confrontation.
While the album’s first singles, “Forever Aligned” and “I Believe,” showcase the band’s more melodic and accessible side, it’s the deeper cuts where Killswitch Engage truly flexes their weight. “The Fall of Us” is one of their heaviest songs to date, teetering on the edge of melodic death metal with punishing riffage and a devastating breakdown that slows things down for maximum impact. Similarly, “Discordant Nation” erupts with relentless energy, driven by Justin Foley‘s mix of blast beats and skank beats, giving the track a raw intensity that sets it apart.
One of the standout elements of This Consequence is the band’s use of mathier riffing—something they’ve dabbled with in the past but lean into more confidently here. Tracks like “Collusion” and “Where It Dies” incorporate shifting rhythms and intricate guitar work that add layers of complexity without sacrificing the band’s signature groove. These moments prove that after two and a half decades, Killswitch Engage can still find ways to evolve while staying true to their roots.
The album closes with “Requiem,” a soaring anthem of resilience that brings This Consequence to a powerful conclusion. As always, Leach‘s ability to balance raw aggression with heartfelt emotion elevates the track, leaving listeners with a sense of catharsis.
Overall, This Consequence is one of Killswitch Engage‘s heaviest albums to date, packed with furious riffs, dynamic songwriting, and a balance of melody and brutality. While the more commercially friendly tracks were released as singles ahead of the album, the deeper cuts showcase a band unafraid to get heavier and experiment with their technical prowess.

Album Review: Killswitch Engage Deliver One of Their Heaviest Albums Yet with ‘This Consequence’
https://springgreen-caribou-353428.hostingersite.com/album-review-killswitch-engage-deliver-one-of-their-heaviest-albums-yet-with-this-consequence/
Nice review! Absolutely love this album already! Best thing since disarm the descent!
Nowhere near heaviest.
Its their 2nd worst album to date. Very mid and generic metalcore. Theyve lost their edge massively.
Sam Morris it sounds exactly like metalcore should, what more do you want?
Fuck sake.
Sam Morris I agree. There are 2 good songs and 1 decent song on the album. All 38.5 minutes of it…. I was extremely disappointed especially after they put out the signal fire I thought maybe they were going to do more collaborations with Howard but this album was a massive disappointment to me as a killswitch fan. I believe is the only song I actually really really like.
Erik Neal Amundson II it’s actually 35 minutes but anyway
Sam Morris I agree it’s sad to see but they haven’t been good since Howard left. Even know Jesse is the original singer and I have loved them since I was 15 years old they just don’t have the edge anymore 🙁
Matt Weaver Disarm the Descent says hi.
Sam Morris What’s your favorite band?
Sam Morris there’s no way you can say that this early. Ridiculous comment.
Sam Morris 2nd best
Shit was light af!! You’re using the word Heavy too loosely
Jonathan Montufar heavy doesn’t always mean music. It can also mean the lyrics. God I hate elitists
Joshua Sullivan oh god, no one gives a shit about Jesse’s poetry, we want some good riffs and heavy songs and a catchy hook
Joshua Sullivan Howard’s lyrics were literally better and more soulful. Had Jesse never left I could agree but now they just sound like a step down. Not as much Bangers but there’s a few
The hate on this album saying it’s “light” and “basic generic Killswitch” is so confusing to me. Either y’all don’t listen to the rest of their catalog or aren’t listening to this album.
“The Fall Of Us” is a strong contender for their heaviest song to date and has prominent death metal elements. “Broken Glass” sounds like no other KSE song. “Discordant Nation”, “Where It Dies” and “Requiem” are Thrashy af.
Are we listening to the same album??
Brad Fugiel Man, I think maybe it’s their best album ever. At least the most solid one from start to finish.
Filemom Im Hard to top Incarnate or AOJB for me, but I could see it making its way up over time!
Brad Fugiel yeah those are killers…Maybe it’s the 6y wait for new stuff. The album is short but also straight to the point, no fillers.
Filemom Im AOJB, This Consequence, Incarnate
Filemom Im A lot of people aren’t understanding what a monster of an album this is and I have been a KSE fan since 1999.
Mario Galindo yeah its definitely a banger! The drums arrangements are so good on this one!
Brad Fugiel Most death metal they’ve ever infused into an album. Ill meet them twice this year and make sure to congratulate them on that.
Brad Fugiel the album is amazing. I get alot of vibes from alive or just breathing. The drumming is some of the most aggressive I’ve ever heard from them. Working in some death metal influences and Jesse trying out some different vocal techniques. I love every killswitch album love Jesse’s vocal and love Howard also. I love the band and their whole discography. The people complaining about this album are clearly casual fans who only like Howard etc. you can’t see a killswitch post without a bunch of people crying “bring Howard back, Jesse sucks!!!” It’s pretty pathetic that people are still crying when Howard choose to leave the band 15 years ago. It’s as bad as the people still crying about max leaving sepultura 30 years ago. Like get over it already. You don’t like it don’t listen, That simple. This album is so good the only complaint I have is that it isn’t longer cause every track is a banger!
Phillip Schedler Couldn’t have said it better myself
Phillip Schedler not to mention the ripping solos Adam has all over the album. It’s 35 minutes of fantastic tracks.
Brad Fugiel only idiots argue opinion. People can disagree. Get over it and grow up.
Daniel Baldwin when did I say people can’t disagree? And doesn’t arguing opinion generate debate and discussion?
If you disagree with me tell me why. Funny how you’re telling me to grow up but you’re over here name calling and not understanding how to debate music
Brad Fugiel read what you wrote idiot. You aren’t very smart obviously.
Daniel Baldwin Okay “digital creator.”
Brad Fugiel it’s extremely subpar
Brad Fugiel I’ve heard every Killswitch album and this is their weakest one since their self titled album from 2009, last album with Howard. Disarm The Descent, Incarnate and Atonement are all solid albums.
Jon Krakowiak to each their own I guess. I don’t like the 09 self titled either and also not crazy about Atonement.
This album can still be not for everyone. I’m just confused as to why people are saying it’s “light”.
Brad Fugiel I think the mixing is a bit off and that the album sounds a bit too melodic sounding, like just not much balance between heavy and melody. I’ve just had Atonement on and I think it’s a solid album from start to finish and 1000 times better sounding than this new one imo. Don’t understand the dislike for Atonement at all.
Brad Fugiel I Believe is the reason people are calling it light, literally the only song with minimal screaming.
Blake Rappold Literally lol it’s like no one’s listening to the full album
Brad Fugiel they are missing out then! Aftermath and Collusion are my favorites so far.
Brad Fugiel to say Killswitch Engage plays death metal on this album is just absolutely insulting to any band that actually plays death metal lol
Cody Blanchard I said death metal elements on one song bro. Listen to it
Brad Fugiel I did listen to it. The album is a solid 3.25/10. Much better than the last one.
Cody Blanchard Yeah clean out your ears chap.
Derek Shockley it’s a solid 3.25/10 and a massive increase in quality over whatever that last album was supposed to be
Cody Blanchard just say you don’t care for them. It’s ok to not like something because it’s not for you.
Ronnie Louthain The End of Heartacle is a certified metal classic, of any genre. As Daylight Dies is also very, very good!
Brad Fugiel The hate on this album saying it’s “light” and “basic generic Killswitch” is so confusing to me.
Just in case you can’t read. This is what YOU wrote. Like I said only idiots argue opinion.
Brad Fugiel it’s just social media. Too many people on here are bitter, insatiable and have to moan and complain about everything. That seems to be the only reason social media exists anymore; to argue and to watch others argue. The album is great. It’s really heavy and it stands out from the rest of their albums. We share the same opinion. Broken Glass might be my favorite KSE song in 10+ years.
Brad Fugiel its just that last album was way better lol. People who dont agree are weird. No hate on new album tho
Nathan Harper everyone’s different man, I wasn’t big on Atonement personally. The “soft” and “light” comments are just confusing to me because of the amount of extreme metal influence this album has
Brad Fugiel Agree!
Brad Fugiel I really like this album, been a fan since Alive or Just Breathing, can’t wait to see them live. A lot of people don’t like to admit they are wrong even slightly, or like to think they are quite discerning and clever when it comes to music I think, I was surprised how consistently heavy this album is, it’s frustrating to hear bands say they are going back to their roots and go halfway and claim it to be “most old school thing we’ve done in years”, far too common in more popular metal genres, great to hear a band not watering down their sound too much
Brad Fugiel haters are just gonna hate, it’s how they survive.
Brad Fugiel thank U
Very Excited to Listen
For tha First Time
Brad Fugiel hear me out. Not trashing them cuz I’m a fan. But throw on disarm the descent. Then switch over to this consequence. Musically it’s EXTREMELY similar. Chord progressions. Song structure. It’s not anything they haven’t already done.
Joe Martinez In an interview before release, Jesse mentioned that the album was going to have the same vibes as Disarm the Descent. I can see a lot of similarities but I can point out even more differences that seperate the two. What’s crazy to me is that I remember hearing Justin in an interview some odd years ago suggesting he wasn’t going to be able to keep up as he aged and then all the sudden This Consequence comes out with arguably his fastest work yet. All the band members deserve praise on this album. It’s incredible and I’ll love this band until I’m six feet under.
Reid Turner I share the same fanhood. Just got my tickets for the west palm beach show.
Joe Martinez Hell yeah man!! We just snagged ours last weekend for Kansas City. It’s gonna be a hell of a show!
Brad Fugiel I don’t understand it either. Album is awesome!
Brad Fugiel people just like to complain.. im excited to see them this upcoming tour. Will be my 20th KSE show 🤘
Brad Fugiel I just prefer the Howard albums 🤷🏻♂️
This one is solid, though.
James Miller nothing wrong with that my man. The “light” comments are what’s confusing me 🤣 differences in opinions with their discography is welcome and shows how great this band is
Brad Where It Dies fucking *sent* me. Such an absolute banger.
Brad Fugiel Where It Dies and Requiem for the thrashy licks are probably my 2 favs on the album 🤘
Brad Fugiel For real!
I never once have heard people say it’s their lightest. However, their tone on those songs are the reason why anything from As Daylight Dies is heavier.
Brad Fugiel all your points are accurate.
Brad Fugiel the fall of us is one of their best songs they’ve ever written
Brad Fugiel people dont listen with fresh ears.
Brad Fugiel honestly I think it’s the heaviest album in a long time.
Brad Fugiel It’s phenomenal! Their best since Jesse returned
Brad Fugiel most people talking shit haven’t listened to this band since 2006.
Brad Fugiel thank you. My thoughts exactly.
No Howard I’m not interested🫡
Chris Renshaw it’s been like 13 years let it go
Joshua Sullivan not upset about it, their music just isn’t good without him.
Joshua Sullivan they’re not real fans. Just in the moment kids that probably heard KSE on the Resident Evil soundtrack
Chris Renshaw grow up 😂
Joe James you’re not in the band, why you worried about my opinion?
Chris Renshaw oof…. bandwagonner much?
Mack Gremberg exactly
Mack Gremberg 100%
Chris Renshaw Jesse’s better at screaming and singing.
Lewis Aberdeen are you serious?
Michael Grondel Yessir. Even objectively, compared to Howard, Jesse since Atonement has had more range, fuller and more guttural screams, and has more vocal tones in general. Subjectively, I prefer the way his voice sounds in general. The whole faux-operatic thing and “high fry scream thing” that Howard was famous for never appealed to me, but I get why people like it.
Lewis Aberdeen .i think jesse his vocals are good but he must work harder for it than howard.
When Howard sings he seems to have an easy time.
Chris Renshaw frrrr…not my Killswitch 🤷
Dean Voelker awwwe…. so you were late to the KSE party now u dont like how things started. Adorable. Go listen to falling in reverse then.
Zach Briscoe hells yeah dude…good looking out. 💪
Chris Renshaw your second rate front man ain’t got ish on jesse. Have a horrible day!
Tony Kroll so angy, praying for you to feel better.
Tony Kroll I think they are both good in there own way
Tony Kroll Howard is 10 times better
Marcus Armstrong too operatic for me, not that it’s a bad thing just me personally stopped listening to the band when he took over and carried on when he left. He has good screams just don’t like his singing. Where Jesse I can relate, but if we all liked the same we’d be boring so neither is better just both different styles and it depends on what’s your style.
Marcus Armstrong try again
Chris Renshaw You’re the one that sounds upset lmao.
Tony Kroll 2nd rate??? but why did end of heartache and as daylight dies sell more and have more views than anthing else?? jesse is 2nd rate compared to howard jones.. but ok … I like them both and jesse was important to the early days but howard just takes it up another level and itll be proven again when burn eternal outsells and out does this one… so save this receipt, so I can come back when that album comes out and show you the difference…
Chris Renshaw poser
Chris Renshaw If you’re looking for Howard perhaps try Light the Torch, or Sion, or keep an eye out for new work this year with Howard and Adam D 👊🏻
Chris Renshaw 15 years bruh, he ain’t coming back so just get over it 🤷♂️ Howard has plenty of material out there at this moment.
Chris Renshaw you’re goofy.😅
Chris Renshaw you realize Jesse was the original singer, not Howard, right? Lol
Matt Armata I know Jesse was the original, just not a fan personally
Matt Armata so, Howard was better 🤷
Chris Renshaw me neither. I just can’t get into anything from the “new” vocalist
Chris Renshaw and he wasn’t their original singer to begin with
Peter Bennett I’m aware of that, just my personal preference.
Chris Renshaw Must not be a real KSE fan because Jesse is the original singer. Howard filled in while Jesse was away dealing with depression and other life issues. Pretty ridiculous on your part.
Aaron Leroy Loreg filling in and recording 3 albums?
Chris Renshaw your not Howard or Jesse , so no one is interested in your opinion.
Chris Renshaw then you’ve never been a true KSE fan considering Jesse was the original singer to begin with
Chris Renshaw I love Howard too but they have been putting out back to back killer albums since Jesse came back. Plus I think Howard is on one of the songs on the new one.
Chris Renshaw it’s been how long? I’m sure you can survive without heavily filtered vocals lol.
Chris Renshaw silly
Chris Renshaw don’t let the door Catch your a*s on the way out 👋
Chris Renshaw – What a pathetically stupid fucking take.
Jonathan R. Konkel so angy
Chris Renshaw brother you do realize when Howard joined he was signing tracks Jesse wrote and they have been on stage many times since both are good singers as well
Chris Renshaw alive or just breathing is ultimate KSE in my opinion
Chris Renshaw troll
Chris Renshaw it’s been 13 years, dude. It’s time to pull his meat out of your mouth and move on.
Chris Renshaw grow up
Chris Renshaw Jessie is way better vocalist
Chris Renshaw tell us you know nothing about KSE without telling us you know nothing about KSE. 🤡
Chris Renshaw good to know
Chris Renshaw Howard sounds like a Vegas lounge act
Chris Renshaw
Media: https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fmedia1.tenor.co%2Fm%2FwggsPF_Ft3wAAAAd%2Fno-one-cares.gif&h=AT1VqpmujoemYQYcZfrBBF-B7R8em5JM9khH5mJbNYpNazDnubBCcroc8PyHQKWnn_Ce6oq1De11LurVs3PjChe429_xAbNrzktRf5SfDlcMHzaxv1ZjDESrYrvYyzFA&s=1
Chris Renshaw he’s been gone over a decade get over it
Chris Renshaw Howard was awesome IN KsE, but not only was he only in the band for less than 10 years, nothing he’s done since has come close to being as good. KsE was always more than just Howard.
Jason Aplin why are the albums that howard is on have better numbers and sold more? I bet you $1000 burn eternal will outsell and out view this kse album…
Chris Renshaw it’s time to get over it
Chris Renshaw love Howard. But Jesse won me over after actually getting to see him live.
Chris Renshaw I guarantee burn eternal will outsell and outchart this kse album… many kse fans want to argue but they know its true and they know Howard propelled kse to where they are… jesses vocals are important to the beginnng and getting this type of sound going, but adam D and howard revolutionized the sound and took it higher to a place jesses vocals couldnt… even this new kse album is the same ole… its good , i mean its a great metalcore album but theres nothing that pops out and its missing the wow factor…. and its something we have all heard before…they played it safe with this album, which isnt a bad thing or a dig to them, its just truth…
Chris Renshaw bro, get over it. Embrace Jess’s return already, and remember the greats Hojo gave on his end.. go listen to DYK/LTT, Scion… hell, he’s not hurting being gone awhile now, and he still collabs with KsE. Wasted negative energy.
So many comments here.
Media: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10232732410245383&set=p.10232732410245383&type=3
Y’all commenters who say this “isn’t heavy” are stupid: you probably listen to Ronnie Radke and/or crappy symphonic deathcore and think it’s “heavy”. KsE is real metal, not like that chug-a-chug, fry/tunnel/squeal in 20 pitches junk that passes for metal these days.
Lewis Aberdeen hear hear
Lewis Aberdeen sorry but you take this killswitch album and compare it to 2 other bands with new releases, All That Remains and As I Lay Dying! This killswitch album is nowhere near heavy and I have been a killswitch fan since Jesse sang originally and saw their last 3 shows they have played in mass! Just couldn’t get into this album!
Mikey B Bennetzen next time you listen to it try pulling your head out of your ass. Album is full of blast beats, solos, and breakdowns but iTs nOt hEaVy eNoUgh…
Tyler Pelley dude hey try pulling your head out of your ass and realize not everyone has to like the album and tastes vary! I don’t like this album but did that stop me from picking up tickets to go see them for the 6th time this summer at the summer of loud tour, absolutely not they put on a fucking killer live show! So pull your head out of your ass and fuck right the fuck off!
Mikey B Bennetzen nah this album is one of their best
Lewis Aberdeen this made me lol
Lewis Aberdeen How people dare to share opinions right? Imho it aint heavy, they had much better albums than this one. The new one is either badly remastered or dunno whats going on, just cant get the hang of it in any shape or form, generic would be the best word to describe it imo. BTW you don’t have to hate on somebody’s opinions just because they criticise your fav band, if their new album is HEAVY for you then maybe you are listening to Ronnie Radke or some other radio-ready mashups? XD
Wojtek Drabarek Nah, Ronnie’s a douche xD. As for heavy, I listen to most forms of extreme metal (death, black, thrash, groove etc and their associated subgenres). I’m not saying that KsE is the heaviest game in town. They never really were. What I am saying though is that they have actual riffs and songwriting ability and have stuck to their sound while adding different elements, whereas a lot of modern “core” overemphasizes production, evidently auto tuned vocals and guitar solos, and changing their whole style every two albums to the detriment of good music. Anyways, happy to agree to disagree. The fan-base seems pretty divided on this new one. I’m all for the new record myself
Lewis Aberdeen I get your point that KSE has the arsenal, the guitars sounds dope on this one, but IMHO If they did a better master of this record, it would’ve turned out much better. For me it sounds way too flat and separated/clinical.
It’s the mix that ruins this record . Too flat sounding , zero depth ! The beefy sound they had with other records is not present in this one .
Chad Denison I agree the production is weak. Definitely let’s the album down along with the weak songs
Chad Denison agreed 100% very underwhelming mix the production sounds very amateur. Very disappointing and very surprising considering we all know how capable they are of having some of the best sounding production in the game
Akbar Roosevelt Exactly! 👍🏻
Chad Denison I have to agree. Although it lets you hear everyone clearly, it sounds over processed and too compressed. Very little in the form of dynamics if any. Dare I say the vocals are too loud compared to the band?
Chad Denison just gave it a listen myself, holy shit yeah that production is really bad. Especially on the chorus of the first song, my 3DS had better audio than this, that’s horrible.
Fucking pray they get a remix for it
Chad Denison here I thought it might have been Spotify (which I’m sure doesn’t help) that was the culprit for how flat it sounded.
Chad Denison I also noticed this. I honestly was like, what the fuck. I adjusted all the audio in my car to try and make it sound better. It’s probably the worst mix on any album they have.
Justin Scott Right ! It’s almost like a mastering / manufacturing defect that sometimes happens. But this was intentional! Makes no sense .
Chad Denison I thought it was just YouTube compression but then it came out and sounded the same. Totally agree. The dynamics just aren’t there. I don’t get it. Adam d is the best in the game.
Killswitch fan from the beginning, but this is their worst album
Michael Totsch worse than 2009 ST album?
Zubairi Farihan Absolutely not. Some bangers on here for sure.
Zubairi Farihan the 2009 ST album fucking rules. Their first ST album on the other hand…
Ben Boyd you mean the album from 25 YEARS ago??….their VERY FIRST album??…I wear the majority of people on this world don’t have a fucking brain or know how to actually use it 😂😂😂
Ryan McCutcheon I said what I said. And hey it’s ok, All that remains and Avenged Sevenfolds first albums sucked too but then they ended up improving over time as well. I always felt the 2nd self titled album was very under appreciated. Probably their least heavy album which may be why it gets so much hate but I personally enjoy it a lot
Zubairi Farihan 2nd worst after that!
Ben Boyd all thst remain first 2 albums are fucking awesome! You’re crazy..lol
Justin Scott I’ve never been able to get into Behind silence & Solitude tbh. Love This darkened heart but it’s no fall of ideals or probably even Overcome for me
Zubairi Farihan yeah that actually had 2 songs I like this one has 1
Michael Totsch it really is sadly and now we have to wait 5 more years 🙁
Yeah it’s heavy I guess… but the mixes are dry af and boring. There’s no dynamic to album. Heavy? sure. Good? Not really.
I expected more from Metalcore gods
Jacob Alexander was listening to Heartache and Daylight Dies today, it’s insane how much thicker those ancient albums sound compared to this flat garbage they keep releasing over and over, the guitars are so quiet
Jared Turner get a sound system lol.
Salvatore Aronica if you think it’s a good thick mix, broaden your playlist
The first five song’s is a solid 8/10 but the next songs are very weak.
Γιωργος Μηλιωνης tracks 6-10 are easily the best tracks on the album. Opinions are funny.
Joseph Krzyzanski i didnt ask for your opinion of what i said.
Your funny
Γιωργος Μηλιωνης oh, I didn’t realize that anyone asked for your opinion either. That’s some hypocrisy right there.
Joseph Krzyzanski

Γιωργος Μηλιωνης boy stfu you didn’t listen past track 5. Collusion is one of the heaviest songs they’ve ever written and the last 4 songs are heavy AF.
Nicholas J Modd its just my opinion
I think it’s hilarious all these fans crying about Howard you do know he has his own band and it isn’t that heavy
Ain’t listening to a 35 minute album from a band of this “caliber”
Dylan Burnett I know, waiting 5 years for 35 minutes of music is a disgrace 🤬
Dylan Burnett cry harder. They dont have to put out any new music if they dont want to.
Brandon Moskowitz so brave of you and them.
Dylan Burnett but Dylan its their heaviest yet
Its a flat sounding album. More like background music for when you have visitors
I like it.
Painfully boring and mediocre
3/10
Lol

Phillip William it’s a fake profile
Mario Galindo I thought as much. Still gave me a good laugh.
Blows the last two albums out of the water but it still feels like killswitch on autopilot they don’t evolve, they don’t take chances. All 10 songs on this album follow the generic heavy verse, clean chorus. Atonement was a weaker album but it was at least them embracing they’re a metal band and had a few tracks with 0 cleans.
not heavier than the usual. and no real stand out, its just more of the same for me, it was mildly disapointing
Kinda feels like they ran out of juice.
Mitch DeBehnke I agree man. It just didn’t have the same passion as their last 3 albums. Disarm the Descent is one of my favorites.
Two singles have been weak. No progression in their sound or production.
Dude this is far from there heaviest albums. One fire track off that album very disappointing LP
I’ve listen to this album 3 times…it’s not heavy. They’ve done better
36 minute album us way too short
Probably gonna have to listen to it again but the first listen wasn’t that impressive. Very repetitive pattern and im an absolute huge KSE fan love what Jesse brings to the table but from my first listen this wasn’t it.
Adrian Johnson i felt the same way. Skipped a bunch of tracks within first minute and last song on the album was my favorite.
I expected a lot better after 5.5 years.
Haven’t heard it yet not rushing to get it
It’s an incredible album, and really grew on me. It’s in my top 5 right behind Alive or Just Breathing, End of Heartache, As Daylight Dies, and Disarm the Descent
Needs Howard Jones
My only problem with this album is that it is too damn short. 6 years and you can only come up with 35 minutes of music? This reeks of Jesse being a pain in the ass. I’m excited for Adam and Howard’s album
Chris Pettengill So many classic albums are in that 35-45 minute range
Chris Pettengill Reign In Blood was only half an hour to be fair. Not comparing either except the album lengths, before some edge lord jumps on me. 🫣😂
Feels a but mellow
Same album over and over
“I believe” is tired boring KsE but the rest is pretty good to great! Best since “The End Of Heartache” at least.
Boring.. probably their worst since self titled 2009. Not catchy at all!
It’s literally not even close to one of their heaviest
This album is for sure better than their last. I dig it. If they make another album I hope it’s less thrash though.
probably would be with better production, sounds like those non copyright rock songs on youtube that had no post production
Its not bad but it’s not great, my wife had it on it the car and I thought it was okay.
I love KSE but I did not enjoy this album at all.
Only song I didn’t care for was “I believe”… The rest was good
the songs are heavy and fast but forgettable. unleashed is way better than this one.
Emerson Co Jr. This is my thought too. I quickly forgot how every song sounded afterwards. That didn’t happen with previous albums.
Joel Korhonen it sounded more of a b sides collection. for me this is their weakest album.
Took a few listens but it’s Definately solid.Aftermath,Collusion and requiem are great songs. The last album was a bit stronger overall imo but this one is really good.Also.
Blood Has Been Shed was better than Killswitch
I like this new álbum
I’m tired of hearing people compare Jesse and Howard. There is no comparison. Howard is clearly better.
Brian Connolly team Jesse. The emo lyrics, vibrato and lack of facets Jesse has really kept me from enjoying him in the band. He had his time and place but Jesse is definitely the better metal vocalist imho.
it’s a great album. One or to mundane songs but rest is classic good KSE!
I’ve gone through it twice so far (it’s super short, probably less than 40 minutes).
Honest opinion: so far, nothing has really jumped out at me as a real banger on the album. Maybe “Where It Dies”… I dunno.
I’ll keep listening, maybe something will grab me, but so far… meh.
Still stoked to see them in a few weeks for the first time in 3 years though!
Joshua Alessi agree completely, i loved atonement but this one hasn’t grabbed me just yet
These last two albums don’t hit the same.
Disarm the decent is his best work since he came back
I’m going to be a bit of a hypocrite as I have listened to this album quite a few times. I believe and aftermath are great songs but genuinely feel like this album is not some of their best work. They changed production style after Jesse came back and guitars have felt a bit thinner instead of that chonky sound they had before but this sounds even more flat than other outings. Been a fan of every album since alive or just breathing but this one does feel a bit meh…
They’re my favourite band of all time, and it’s okay to say that you do or don’t like it. I personally cannot connect with the album yet, ‘abandon us’ and ‘i believe’ are my go-to songs but I’m in the majority where I even went back on their discography and it’s missing a little zest for my liking. The atmosphere compared to older albums just falls a bit flat. Overall it’s at a 7.5/10.
Great album
People saying its shit go listen to Howards last album thats by far their worst
Mark Currie
I love KSE. Regardless if it’s Jesse or if it’s Howard. Regardless of if it’s 1999 or if it’s 2009. Some of the most passionate and talented musicians on the scene and they have been for 30 years. That’s crazy! This Consequence has been on repeat just like every other album has been. Sure, I have my favorites from each album, but they’re all so good!
Dustin Healey this is the take. People saying any killswitch is “bad” have lost their minds. They don’t have bad songs no less bad albums
So much crying in the comments. Metal “fans” are truly something else – won’t even listen because it’s 35 minutes long etc 😅
Sami Luomanmäki 💯 it’s like tell me you’ve never ever listened a good hardcore album before 🤣🤣🤣
Nothing on this record makes me want to play it over and over. It’s a meh record. I’m not completely shitting on it but yeah it’s forgettable.
Third play today and I’m getting into it more but for me, Alive or just Breathing remains my favourite record.
I wouldnt say that
It’s one of those we just mailed it in albums. The first two songs sound very alike. To me the only song that sticks out Is ” I believe”. Which in my opinion is the we made a song so the radio can play it 1 million times a day. Like when Howard was in the band, I feel like they were more diverse with their sound. But like the last four albums have just sounded the same. Don’t get me wrong. I think Jesse is a great singer, but I just feel like with him. It’s run its course.
Some songs have promise, and then the dreaded tambourine comes out and Jesse starts singing the title of the song over and over, it’s a snooze fest
Jared Turner lol…the tambourine!!
Jared Turner Here I was thinking I was the only one that despises the fucking tambourine. I called them out on a few other posts about how it ruins the mix.
Yolandi Palmer
Not even I love the guys but this album is not that heavy or that good you can tell it’s just thrown together
Phenomenal
I loved this album! So many great choruses! If you like KSE, please check out my band’s EP “Arrived”.
Listening to it now I dig it 🤘
Lol why is everyone butt hurt and defensive because it’s not all that heavy? I mean are they 50? Is this their 10th album? I’m not gonna bag on them and say it’s their worst album, but I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have ended up obsessed with them for years, seeing them at least 5 times, if Alive or Just Breathing was, you know, this.
Evidently the reviewer didn’t listen to it before reviewing it
I’ve listened to it several times and I think it’s great. There’s 3 or 4 solid bangers but every song is good imo…🤘🤘
The Comments sound like Linkin Park Emily haters🙃
KSE is my favorite metalcore band. I had the song “All For Us” on repeat yesterday for an entire hour. Sounded more like a Gojira track with the squeals and double bass. JFO brings it on this album (his most impressive drumming to date) and Adam D sounds like an angel hahaha. 9/10 for me.
Listened to the whole album on my ride into work yesterday, I was impressed! The worst KSE has got to be the last one with Howard, I’m also not a HJ fan.
No song caught my attention. Skipped through every one. No hooks, flat mix. 🙁 love killswitch but this isn’t it for me.
All That Remains new album blows it away
Zach Randazzo you’re so fragile bro
Zach Randazzo hell yea it does. I love killswitch but this new album is mid.
Think someone has already said it, but these guys lost their edge years ago, a slow decline to mediocrity
I’m gonna start off saying KSE is my all time favorite band, I have the same amount of love for both Howard and Jesse.
The riffs are phenomenal and the drum tracking is beastly.
Jesse’s vocals are better than ever.
That being said. I rank this album 8 out of their 9 albums. Only beating the Howard self titled.
It’s the choruses that take me out of most songs. They all sound a little too similar and take the wind out of the sails. There heavy riffs and then it’s like it jump cuts to a different song and then back to the nasty. Again, not saying it’s bad by any means, but it’s definitely not their best album.
As Daylight Dies
Incarnate
The End of Heartache
Alive or Just Breathing
Disarm the Descent
Self Titled (Jesse)
Atonement
This Consequence
Self Titled (Howard)
I do not hate a single one of these albums, and know every song on each of them by heart.
Daniel Ogre Street alive or just breathing was and is and has always been there greatest album 🤷♂️
Very weak, generic and boring. Choruses are not even catchy, riffs are meh. The band has fallen so much after Howard’s gone.
I just can’t get into this band. Seen em live and everything. Its the clean vocals that kill anything this band has done.
They haven’t released anything decent in a long time.
Heavy… no… catchy… yes
The band that keeps the beard grooming industry in business.
It’s been a blessing to listen to all versions. The newest albums have been amazing. I love Howard and Light the Torch, but the new KSE albums are mindblowing to me. The B sides album really drew me back in.
Repetitive and boring
It’s a decent album, but not as heavy as I was expecting, it’s a standard kill switch album,
This band never misses
Nine of bleeding through
5 years for an oddly mixed and produced album that feels uninspired. It’s regurgitated KSE with some new elements that only last for a little of a song, not enough to take it to the next level.
It’s a confusing album, it’s not bad bad, I just don’t think it’s what anyone was expecting after a 5 year break from putting out a new album.
Where is the original lead singer?
Jason Caito the far left
The Mosh Network ok
The Mosh Network Oh i meant. Where is the black guy ?
I love Killswitch and I love everything they’ve put out. It’s definitely heavy. Albeit a little repetitive. But overall it’s a solid album I think.
Just terrible
You could hear it starting to happen on Atonement but sadly the boys feel very uninspired. They need to change it up, mix in something different idk.
I wouldn’t say it’s heavy but it’s definetly a must have
There’s 2 maybe 3 good songs on it
Fantastic album🔥🔥
wouldn’t go that far. It’s okay though
Sorry..not even close
Kind of a B album 🤷
This album was awful. Very disappointing.
Heavy like a really heavy thing?
I love that even Howard loves it saying it’s their best yet and so many edgelord gatekeepers suck and can’t get into it because they’ve never been exposed to a good 35 min hardcore record. 🤣🤣🤣
