Alissa White-Gluz has addressed the overwhelming support she’s received since parting ways with Arch Enemy this past weekend. The announcement of her departure from the Swedish melodic death metal veterans came on Sunday, November 23rd.
Having been a member of the band since 2014—replacing Angela Gossow—White-Gluz paired her exit with the debut of her new solo single, “The Room Where She Died”. Speaking on social media this morning, November 26th, she said:
“Wow.
I am blown away by the outpouring of love and support I have received over the past few days. Times of transition can be especially intense for the mind, body and heart. I don’t take any of this lightly. But, the overwhelmingly positive response to ‘The Room Where She Died’ has given me so much renewed energy and clarity about who I am as an artist and why I love singing and creating music.I am proud of the body of work I have been building for decades. After so many years of honing my skills as a vocalist, song-writer and performer; absorbing and learning with every show, every album, every video and every meet & greet, I am excited to let my solo work stand on its own.”
White-Gluz has been steadily developing her solo career for years, completing her debut album in 2022. Regarding her replacement in Arch Enemy, former vocalist Johan Liiva confirmed via social media that, while he has long been a fan of White-Gluz, he will not be returning to the band.
Notably, the music video for “The Room Where She Died” features White-Gluz playing the signature guitar of her former bandmate Michael Amott, bridging her past with the beginning of her solo chapter.
