Anthrax have unveiled another preview of their long-awaited new album ‘Cursum Perficio’, this time releasing the music video for “Everybody’s Got A Plan.”
The song is the third single to arrive from the band’s first studio album in a decade, which is scheduled for release on September 18th. Its title references the famous quote attributed to boxing icon Mike Tyson: “Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face.”
Rather than telling a standalone story, the video captures the band’s recent time on the road, incorporating footage from Anthrax’s performance with Iron Maiden in Lisbon, Portugal, on July 7th, along with behind-the-scenes moments.
Drummer Charlie Benante spoke about the track and its inspiration:
“‘Everybody’s Got a Plan’ has always been one of my favorite songs on ‘Cursum Perficio’. The video basically shows the band on and off stage in a montage of video clips that kinda matches the velocity of the song. The line ‘Everybody’s Got A Plan until they get punched in the face’ is such a great line, and so true!”
Guitarist Scott Ian added:
“We wanted to capture us having fun on tour and what better way to do that? That was a plan that didn’t end up with a punch in the face! Have fun watching my friends!”
Following the release of ‘Cursum Perficio’, Anthrax will reunite with Iron Maiden later this year as one of the support acts on select dates of the legendary band’s North American tour, with Megadeth also appearing on the bill.
