A concertgoer attending Avenged Sevenfold and Good Charlotte’s Phoenix, AZ show has reportedly been arrested after allegedly stealing an ambulance from outside the venue and subsequently crashing it.
According to local news reports, 24-year-old Grace Vicente, a New Mexico correctional officer, is accused of taking the emergency vehicle from outside Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre on the night of August 27th.
Police allege that Vicente was impaired when she entered the ambulance, which had reportedly been left running while paramedics stepped away to retrieve a gurney. Prosecutors claim the vehicle did not have its keys inside at the time.
The ambulance was allegedly driven for less than two miles before Vicente crashed it into a wall and a pickup truck. She is also accused of passing out while the vehicle was in traffic.
According to prosecutors, Vicente has admitted to blacking out. She was subsequently booked on charges of DUI and theft of means of transportation.
The connection to the concert was also confirmed by Vicente’s attorney, who said that she had traveled to the venue to attend the show.
Her lawyer characterized the alleged incident as being completely out of character, stating:
“She came here to attend a concert … and things just ended up happening that are completely out of her normal nature.”
The incident occurred as Avenged Sevenfold and Good Charlotte were performing at the Phoenix venue, though there is no indication that either band was involved in the alleged theft or subsequent crash.
The case remains ongoing, and the allegations against Vicente have not been proven in court.
