Bad Omens have reached another major milestone, as their breakout single “Just Pretend” has officially been certified double platinum in the United States.
Originally released on the band’s 2022 album The Death Of Peace Of Mind, the track experienced a massive surge in popularity after going viral on TikTok, helping introduce the group to a wider audience. The song first earned gold certification in July 2023 before reaching platinum status in April 2024.
Now, just over two years later, “Just Pretend” has officially achieved double platinum certification, marking the band’s first release to reach that level in the United States.
The success of the song has also helped fuel a string of additional certifications for the band. The Death Of Peace Of Mind has been certified gold, while the album’s title track, “Like A Villain,” and “Limits” have all earned gold certifications as well.
In the United States, a platinum certification represents one million units, while gold signifies 500,000 units. Modern certification totals also account for digital downloads and streaming activity in addition to traditional album and single sales.
