Black Sabbath fans will have a massive new collector’s item to add to their shelves this fall. Rufus Publications has officially announced The Masters Of Reality, a 500-page coffee table book celebrating the legendary band’s Ozzy Osbourne era from its earliest days through the historic “Back To The Beginning” farewell concert.
Overseen by renowned rock photographer Ross Halfin, the officially authorized release features rare photographs, unseen memorabilia, and new essays from Geoff Barton and Dave Ling. The pair also conducted exclusive interviews with all four members of Black Sabbath specifically for the project.
Work on the book began roughly two years ago and had the full support of the late Ozzy Osbourne, who personally signed the book plates months before Black Sabbath’s final performance.
Reflecting on the project, Halfin said:
“Ozzy and Sharon wanted the book out soon after the final show in Birmingham but Ozzy suddenly passing away caused the music world to stop. Ozzy was fully involved with the book and he signed the book plates months before the final show, as did all the bandmembers. So now, we all thought the time was right, one year after Back to the Beginning, to announce the project. A book we all feel celebrates both Black Sabbath and Ozzy and illustrates just how important they are. I hope fans enjoy it.”
The Masters Of Reality is scheduled for release in late October, with pre-orders available now through Rufus Publications.
For collectors, Rufus Publications is also offering a limited Super Deluxe Edition, capped at 200 copies. The premium edition includes signed book plates from all four members of Black Sabbath and carries a retail price of more than $1,200.
