Black Sabbath to Reunite for Final Farewell Show in Birmingham

In what looks to be the metal event of 2025, heavy metal pioneers Black Sabbath will reunite for one final farewell show in their hometown of Birmingham, UK. Although the band officially wound down their career in Birmingham following their 2017 farewell tour, that trek took place without drummer Bill Ward, who was then embroiled in contractual disputes with the band.

This presumed final sendoff for the legendary band has been dubbed “Back To The Beginning.” The show will also mark the first proper performance by vocalist Ozzy Osbourne since overcoming numerous health issues over the past few years. Osbourne is expected to pull double duty at the event, though his solo set will be somewhat abbreviated.

The concert will be held at Villa Park in Birmingham on July 05th, 2025. All proceeds from the event will benefit Cure Parkinson’s, the Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorn Children’s Hospice.

Black Sabbath will share the stage with many past alumni of the ‘Ozzfest’ events, among others. In addition to Sabbath’s headlining set, an all-star metal roster will also deliver performances, including:

• Alice In Chains
• Lamb Of God
• Anthrax
• Mastodon

A supergroup of esteemed metal and hard rock musicians will also take part. This collective features:

• Fred Durst (Limp Bizkit)
• Lzzy Hale (Halestorm)
• Jake E. Lee (Red Dragon Cartel, ex-Ozzy Osbourne)
• Jonathan Davis (Korn)
• KK Downing (KK’s Priest, ex-Judas Priest)
• Mike Bordin (Faith No More/Ozzy Osbourne)
• Papa V Perpetua (Ghost)
• Rudy Sarzo (Quiet Riot, etc.)
• Sammy Hagar (ex-Van Halen)
• Slash (Guns N’ Roses)
• II (Sleep Token)
• Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine)
• Wolfgang Van Halen (Mammoth WVH, ex-Van Halen)

Additional performers for the supergroup will be announced at a later date. Serving as musical director for the collective, Tom Morello promises,

“This will be the greatest heavy metal show ever.”

Commenting on the monumental event, Ozzy Osbourne stated:

“It’s my time to go ‘Back To The Beginning’… time for me to give back to the place where I was born. How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love. Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham Forever.”

Tickets for the event will go on sale Friday, February 14th at 10:00am GMT.
