Bodysnatcher have unveiled a new music video for “The Maker,” the latest single from their upcoming album ‘Hell Is Here, Hell Is Home’, which is set to arrive on April 10th.
The deathcore outfit once again leaned into their most aggressive instincts for the track, teaming up with director Errick Easterday (Sanguisugabogg, Boundaries) to bring the song’s dark themes to life on screen. “The Maker” marks the second preview of the album and signals an even heavier turn for the band.
Bassist Kyle Shope explained that the song pushes Bodysnatcher into bleaker territory than ever before:
“‘The Maker’ is a raw, visceral song. Bodysnatcher has always been known for unrelenting heaviness, but ‘The Maker’ seems to be an even darker, more intense direction. Revenge and retaliation are themes we often use in our lyrics, however ‘The Maker’ is a more direct approach. This song is as heavy as we could make it and I know the energy is going to be electric when it is played live.”
Drummer Chris Whited expanded on how the current state of the world influenced the album’s overall tone:
“I’d say a lot of today’s world plays into this album. We really feel that listeners across the globe can find something to connect with in these songs. There’s a strong sense of retaliation this time around, it feels like choosing violence, fighting back against a world that feels morally lost right now.”
Guitarist Kyle Carter described the difficult and often frustrating writing process behind the record, noting that perseverance ultimately paid off:
“I won’t lie. This was a hard album to put together. Every writing session was met with dead ends for months, but we were able to come out the other side with 15 demos and ended with 10 of the best songs we’ve ever made. The album is based around revenge and not bending over for people.”
He added:
“Life is too short to let people walk on you or take advantage of you. Humans are monsters who betray, abuse, neglect, murder, and sometimes it feels like we’re too comfortable in the Hell that we’re in.”
Speaking collectively, the band shared their excitement about finally rolling out the record:
“We’re extremely excited to finally start sharing this album with everyone. We think it’s the band’s strongest work. We finally accomplished the sound we’ve been aiming for from the start.”
‘Hell Is Here, Hell Is Home’ also features a notable guest appearance from Terror frontman Scott Vogel on the track “Survive Or Die,” continuing a trend established on the band’s previous release, ‘Vile Conduct’, which featured Hatebreed vocalist Jamey Jasta.
Vocalist Kyle Medina explained the significance of Vogel’s involvement:
“Scott Vogel is such a pivotal and legendary voice in hardcore and heavy music. Many of us in the band grew up listening to Terror, so having him appear on a song is huge for us in terms of morale and making the album feel even more strong.”
