Breaking Benjamin have scored their first RIAA certification in several years, with their 2024 single “Awaken” officially reaching gold status in the United States.
The certification was awarded on September 4, marking the band’s first RIAA milestone since 2022. “Awaken” was originally released in October 2024 and is expected to appear on Breaking Benjamin’s forthcoming seventh studio album, which has yet to receive an official announcement.
In the United States, an RIAA gold certification represents 500,000 certified units, while platinum status is awarded at 1 million units. Those totals can include a combination of traditional sales and streaming activity.
For singles, the RIAA’s certification formula also accounts for on-demand audio and video streams, as well as permanent digital downloads, with qualifying activity converted into track-equivalent units.
The gold certification gives “Awaken” another milestone as Breaking Benjamin continue to build toward their next studio album.
