Comeback Kid have enlisted Spiritbox frontwoman Courtney LaPlante for a guest appearance on their latest single, “Shedding Season.” The collaboration arrives alongside a music video directed by Graham GS and offers another preview of the Canadian hardcore veterans’ upcoming eighth studio album, ‘Chosen Hell’.
Set to arrive November 6 via SharpTone Records, the new record will be released tomorrow. The track finds Comeback Kid vocalist Andrew Neufeld trading lyrical perspectives with LaPlante, creating what he describes as a confrontational, back-and-forth narrative.
Neufeld offered the following insight into the song’s meaning and the experience of working with LaPlante:
“‘Shedding Season’ is about peeling back the stress, drama, and pain that we’ve been carrying on through life with. It’s about the specific or period in life where the decision is made to set ourselves free from harmful weight that we have lived in up until that point. It is about defining that moment and feeling confident in the choice to move forward leaving it behind.
We were fortunate enough to get Courtney LaPlante from Spiritbox to guest on this song and she crushed it. It is a back and forth, ‘me against you’ type of lyrical narrative between Courtney and I. Her voice is untouchable and her guttural yell screams volumes of passion in this song. ‘Losing you was a solid win.’”
