Convictions have officially signed with UNFD, marking a new chapter for the Midwestern metalcore outfit. The band celebrated the announcement with the premiere of a music video for their latest single, “Atonement,” directed by Jake Erwin.
Describing their sound as “aggressive worship,” Convictions offered some insight into the personal themes behind the new track, which explores the sacrifices, struggles, and lasting consequences that come with remaining committed to a chosen path.
The band shared the following statement about the song:
“‘Atonement’ is about coming to terms with the sacrifices we’ve made, the weight of our decisions, and the scars we’ve collected along the way. It’s about accepting the cost of holding on to faith, pursuing our purpose, and continuing this journey through music despite the hardships. There’s even a moment in the song where we reference our own band name, Convictions, as a declaration of who we are and what we stand for. Ultimately, it’s about taking ownership of our journey, making peace with the path we’ve chosen, and remaining unwavering in our convictions.”
Convictions will also have an opportunity to introduce themselves to a wider audience on the road this fall, having secured an opening spot on the Born Of Osiris and Miss May I co-headlining tour. Downswing will round out the bill.
The run will feature Born Of Osiris celebrating the 15th anniversary of their sophomore album ‘The Discovery’. The tour kicks off November 6 in Pontiac, Michigan, and continues through December 19 in Dayton, Ohio.
