CONVERGE Tracking 27 Songs for Long-Awaited New Album, Drum Sessions for 17 Already Completed

While their 2021 collaborative release Bloodmoon: I with Chelsea Wolfe, Stephen Brodsky, and others helped tide fans over, it’s been nearly seven years since metalcore trailblazers Converge released a full traditional studio album. That drought appears to be ending soon.

According to an update shared by drummer Ben Koller on April 16th, work on the band’s tenth studio album is well underway — and it’s far from conventional. Rather than narrowing ideas down to a concise set of tracks, the group is embracing an expansive approach. Koller revealed that he’s already tracked drums for 17 songs, with more still to come.

Back in December, Koller mentioned that a total of 27 songs were in the works for this long-anticipated return. Those sessions officially began several weeks ago, with vocalist Jacob Bannon sharing behind-the-scenes insights via his Substack newsletter.

Converge have confirmed that new music from the album will arrive later this year. This upcoming effort will serve as the direct follow-up to 2017’s The Dusk In Us — their last full-length studio release outside of their Bloodmoon collaboration.
