Dance Gavin Dance Release New In-Studio Performance Of “The Robot With Human Hair, Pt. 3”

Dance Gavin Dance have dropped a freshly recorded in‑studio live performance of “The Robot With Human Hair, Pt. 3”, taken from their upcoming “Tree City Sessions 3” live compilation. The Sacramento post‑hardcore outfit recorded 12 of their own tracks in a studio setting, reworking them into a tighter, modern‑sounding set that showcases the current lineup’s strengths while still nodding to their earlier eras.

The track itself hails from the band’s 2008 self‑titled second album, and this new version sees vocalist Andrew Wells stepping into the shoes of the song’s original vocalist, Kurt Travis, with a bit of reverence and a lot of his own energy. Wells addressed the significance of the arrangement:

“The entire ‘Tree City Sessions’ series has given us the opportunity to showcase each lineup’s strengths on various songs throughout the entire catalog. Growing up I was a huge fan of the Deathstar album, so being able to emulate Kurt and bring my own passion to this version of Robot 3 was truly an honor.”

“Tree City Sessions 3” is due out on June 19, with a physical release set to include additional bonus tracks beyond the core 12‑song set. The new “Robot 3” performance lands today, May 5, right as the band kicks off their North American headlining run, giving fans a stacked early‑taste context.
