From Ashes To New vocalist Danny Case recently found himself confronting a concertgoer who repeatedly sprayed performers with a water gun during a festival set.
According to Case, the audience member had already been warned to stop after repeatedly spraying the band in the face. When the individual continued, Case addressed them from the stage and made it clear that he was no longer amused by the situation.
“Hey, if you do that again, you’re gonna leave with no fcking teeth. Stop it. I’m dead fcking serious. Stop spraying us with water or I’m gonna kick you in the fcking mouth. Try me mtherfucker, I told you mid-song, don’t do it anymore. I will fucking end you. Try me.”
One of Case’s bandmates subsequently stepped in to address the audience member in a calmer manner, helping bring the incident to an end. Case, however, returned to the subject shortly afterward.
“Guess what, I got leverage. I can dive off the stage and f*cking kick you in the teeth, bitch.”
Case later explained that the confrontation came after he had already attempted to give the concertgoer a warning during the performance.
“I gave you a very nice warning mid-song and then you kept doing it.”
Sharing footage of the incident on social media, Case provided additional context about what had happened and why he reacted so strongly.
“Story time! Some asshole decided it would be funny to spray bands with a water gun while they were performing at this festival. It was not in good faith. It wasn’t because he was joining in on some kind of fun. He was a dick and he was doing his best to hide so he wouldn’t get caught.
He sprayed us in the face 6 times before I finally found him and told him to stop during one of our songs. He then continued to do it and I did what any rational person would do… I threatened to f—king destroy him. Don’t mess with performers.”
The incident serves as another reminder of the unpredictable situations artists can encounter from the stage, particularly when audience participation crosses the line into disrupting a performance.
