Dave Grohl made a surprise appearance with Sepultura this past weekend, joining the Brazilian metal legends onstage during the final date of their North American farewell tour.
The performance took place on May 29th at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, where the Foo Fighters frontman stepped behind the drum kit for a rendition of “Kaiowas”, the instrumental track from Sepultura’s landmark 1993 album Chaos A.D.
While Grohl is best known as the vocalist and guitarist of Foo Fighters, his drumming credentials are well established. Before forming Foo Fighters, Grohl rose to fame behind the kit for Nirvana and has since contributed drums to numerous recordings and live performances throughout his career.
Fan-filmed footage of the collaboration quickly surfaced online, capturing the Rock & Roll Hall Of Famer performing alongside one of metal’s most influential bands during a significant moment in their farewell run.
The appearance also wasn’t entirely unexpected given Grohl’s longtime admiration for Sepultura. Over the years, he has repeatedly cited the band as an influence and spoken publicly about his respect for their music and impact on heavy metal.
The special guest spot comes just days after Sepultura announced the final show of their farewell world tour, bringing an end to a career spanning more than four decades.
The band’s farewell trek began in 2024 and is now scheduled to conclude on:

That performance will mark the final chapter for one of the most influential metal bands to emerge from Brazil and will officially close the book on Sepultura’s historic touring career.
