Deftones vocalist/guitarist Chino Moreno suffered an onstage tumble during the band’s May 13th concert at Spark Arena in Auckland, New Zealand.
The incident occurred roughly 15 songs into the group’s 19-song set while the alternative metal veterans were performing “Hole In The Earth,” the lead single from their 2006 album ‘Saturday Night Wrist’. Fan-filmed footage circulating online shows Moreno losing his footing mid-performance before quickly recovering and continuing the song without missing a beat.
Ironically, the mishap happened during “Hole In The Earth” itself, adding another memorable chapter to the frontman’s long history of energetic onstage performances.
Moreno appeared to take the fall in stride and finished out the remainder of the concert without issue. There has been no indication that the singer sustained any serious injury during the slip-up.
This latest incident is far from the first time Moreno has taken a spill during a live set. Back in 2017, the singer famously fell offstage during a performance and broke his foot.
The Auckland performance wrapped up Deftones’ recent headlining run across Australia and New Zealand. The band are now preparing to head to Japan for a trio of shows next week.
