DEFTONES Return with New Single “my mind is a mountain,” Officially Announce ‘Private Music’ Album

The wait is over. Deftones have officially returned with “my mind is a mountain,” the long-anticipated first single from their upcoming tenth studio album Private Music. The track marks the Sacramento, CA alternative metal icons’ first new release since 2020’s Ohms and offers fans a glimpse of what’s to come when the full record arrives on August 22nd.

Produced by Nick Raskulinecz (Alice In Chains, Foo Fighters), Private Music represents a new era for the band. It’s the first recorded material to feature bassist/vocalist Fred Sabian, who stepped into the role in 2022 following the departure of longtime member Sergio Vega.

The new single arrives amid a career resurgence for the multi-platinum outfit, who recently wrapped a highly successful arena tour and picked up a fresh wave of platinum and gold certifications thanks to renewed interest from a younger audience discovering their catalog.
