Deftones have landed another strong debut on the charts with their tenth studio album, Private Music. According to Billboard, the record opened at #5 on the Billboard 200 after moving 87,000 album-equivalent units in its first week.
Out of that total, 66,000 came from pure album sales, while the remaining numbers were driven by 26.72 million on-demand streams.

The new release easily outperformed the band’s previous effort, Ohms (2020), which debuted at the same chart position with 49,000 first-week units.
While Private Music marks a career resurgence for the veteran alternative metal act, their biggest debut still belongs to 2000’s White Pony, which entered at #3 with 178,000 copies sold.
The updated Billboard 200 chart reflecting Private Music’s first-week placement is set to be published on September 3rd, a day later than usual due to the Labor Day holiday.
