Today, June 20th, marks two major milestones for Deftones fans: the 25th anniversary of the band’s platinum-certified third studio album White Pony and the 52nd birthday of frontman Chino Moreno. In celebration, guitarist Stephen Carpenter has released a new playthrough video for the album’s haunting closer “Pink Maggit”.
This marks Carpenter’s first full playthrough video in two years and arrives as a welcome gift for fans of the band’s signature experimental sound. While his bandmates are currently overseas on the European leg of their 2025 tour, Carpenter has remained stateside, having stepped back from international touring in recent years due to anxiety-related concerns.
Originally released on June 20th, 2000, White Pony remains a high watermark for the band’s discography and for alternative metal as a whole. The album introduced more atmospheric elements to Deftones’ sound and remains widely regarded as a genre classic.
