Kirk Windstein — guitarist for Down and frontman of Crowbar — has given fans a small glimpse into the ongoing studio sessions for Down’s highly anticipated next album. The sludge metal supergroup recently signed with Nuclear Blast and have been hard at work on what will be their first full-length outing since 2007’s Down III: Over The Under.
A brief preview of the new material surfaced via Windstein’s social media yesterday, July 12th, offering fans an early taste of what’s to come. While details remain scarce, the band appears to be aiming for a 2026 release.
Down’s lineup — which also features members of Pantera, Corrosion Of Conformity, and Eyehategod — has remained relatively quiet on the recording front over the past decade, making this return to the studio a long-awaited development for fans of the NOLA metal pioneers.
