Rhode Island post-hardcore outfit Dreamwell have announced their new album, Hymns For The Denial Of God, which is scheduled for release on August 28 through Prosthetic Records.
For the band’s latest full-length effort, vocalist Keziah “KZ” Staska said Dreamwell shifted their focus outward, exploring the harmful effects of organized religion when used to justify violence, hatred, and oppression.
“The album interrogates the negative impact of organized religion when it’s misused to justify violence, genocide, and hatred of others. It’s not a purely atheistic statement either.”
The announcement arrives alongside the release of the album’s lead single, “Plath Vs. Kafka Vs. Romance,” and its accompanying music video.
According to KZ, the track embraces a heavier, more mosh-driven sound while lyrically reflecting on the challenge of creating emotionally honest music during a more positive period in life.
“I wish I knew how to write songs about being happy, but I don’t. I don’t know what to do with my writing when I’m not miserable.”
Hymns For The Denial Of God was produced by Chris Teti at Silver Bullet Studios in Burlington, Connecticut. The music video for “Plath Vs. Kafka Vs. Romance” was directed by former Stray From The Path bassist/vocalist Anthony Altamura.
