Dropkick Murphys And Haywire Release Protest Song “Citizen I.C.E.” Following Fatal Minneapolis Shootings

Dropkick Murphys have officially released a new protest track titled “Citizen I.C.E.”, a pointed response to recent deadly shootings involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers in Minneapolis. The song is now available to stream and appears on the band’s upcoming split release with fellow Boston act Haywire, titled New England Forever.

“Citizen I.C.E.” reworks Dropkick Murphys’ 2005 song “Citizen C.I.A.”, updating its message to confront the current political and social climate. The track directly addresses the fatal shootings of Renée Good and Alex Pretti, both U.S. citizens who were killed in separate incidents involving ICE officers earlier this year. The cases have sparked widespread outrage, protests, and renewed scrutiny of federal enforcement practices.

Haywire appear on the track, adding to its confrontational energy and reinforcing the song’s message. Dropkick Murphys previously teased the song with a short video shared on social media that referenced Good’s death. The full studio version has now been released publicly.

In a statement accompanying the song, Dropkick Murphys explained their motivation behind the release:

“As Americans are being executed in the street, we feel it is our duty to raise consciousness and be one of the voices speaking against this nightmare. ‘Citizen I.C.E.’ is for the people. Stand strong against tyranny. Use it however you want.”

New England Forever will arrive digitally on March 17th, while physical copies of the split will be sold exclusively at shows on Dropkick Murphys’ upcoming St. Patrick’s Day tour, which kicks off on February 9th with Haywire joining them on the road.
