    Dropkick Murphys’ X Account Suspended on St. Patrick’s Day Amid Political Controversy

    Dropkick Murphys had their X (formerly Twitter) account suspended on Monday, March 17th—St. Patrick’s Day. The reason for the suspension remains unclear, though the Massachusetts-based Celtic hardcore punk band has been vocal about their political views and recently clashed with fans wearing pro-Trump apparel at shows.

    Frontman Ken Casey made headlines on March 8, 2025, in Clearwater, FL, when he confronted a fan wearing a Donald Trump MAGA t-shirt. In a viral video, Casey challenged the fan to a bet, asserting that Dropkick Murphys‘ merch is made in America while questioning the origin of the fan’s shirt. After confirming it was made in Nicaragua, the fan lost the bet and swapped it for a Dropkick Murphys shirt.

    Casey later clarified that the fan was a longtime supporter and was not kicked out, stating:

    “They were longtime fans who wanted to let us know they disagree with our politics, but they were respectful.”

    The band was back in the spotlight during their March 16th show at MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston, MA, when Casey called out a fan waving a black MAGA hat, a style popularized by Elon Musk. Addressing the crowd, Casey remarked:

    “If you’re in a room full of people and you want to know who’s in a cult, they’ve been holding up a f**ing hat the whole night to represent a president. This is America, there’s no kings here.”

    He then introduced the next song, saying:

    “We’re gonna play a song about our grandparents and people who fought Nazis in the war and sh*t. So if you could just shut the f*** up for five minutes.”

          Tanner Miller There’s a follow-up to this with corrections, which you may or may not see—but it’s available. As for visibility, growth, effectiveness, whatever this page is doing seems to be working, considering it’s reached over 13 million people in the last 28 days. That might not be massive compared to some sites, but the growth has been nothing short of explosive. And as for being a ‘real fan’—this is a rock/metal news site, not a Dropkick Murphys fan page. It’s also relatively new, and with everything going on, there’s naturally a learning curve.

Actually been noticing a huge increase of pages popping up that I’ve either unfollowed or would never follow. Either facebooks algorithm is fucked or someone tweaked it to lean left again.       anytime a punk band takes a side of a political party, they are in fact no longer a punk band. Punk bands when I was growing up didn’t lean one ear or the other, they were supposed to be singing and talking about the state of the world as a whole and be against any form of government that overreaches and forces beliefs or laws onto the citizens.
