Suicide Silence and All Shall Perish vocalist Eddie Hermida has co-founded a new independent music company alongside Cameron Almasi. Dubbed Arson Theory, the company has been designed around an ‘artist-first’ approach to the music industry.
According to the newly issued announcement, Arson Theory is already working with artists including All Shall Perish, Shadow Of Intent, PeelingFlesh, PSYCHO-FRAME, The Last Ten Seconds Of Life and more.
The company is positioned as an alternative to both the traditional label system and a completely DIY approach, offering services that include distribution, label services, publishing, rights management, sync, marketing, merchandising, physical distribution and catalog acquisitions.
Almasi explained the motivation behind launching Arson Theory:
“Arson Theory is really the byproduct of two people with very different perspectives coming together and realizing there was an opportunity to build something better. Eddie and I have been friends for a long time, and over the years we would constantly compare what his bands were experiencing in heavy music with what my clients were receiving in the pop, rap, and dance worlds, especially around distribution, publishing and creative support.”
He continued:
“I saw a gap between complete DIY independence and the traditional label system. Artists shouldn’t have to choose between doing everything themselves and giving up ownership, flexibility, or a large portion of their economics just to receive meaningful support. Publishing was similar, I wanted to bring the kind of creative development, collaboration and opportunity I had seen in other genres into heavy music.”
For Hermida, his own experiences as a musician played a major role in the development of the company.
“Arson Theory is a project that never in my wildest dreams I could have imagined I’d be a part of. Ultimately, I’m a musician that has had a rough time with the ‘industry’ so I approached this project carefully. Now a year-and-a-half later, I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to help boost the trajectory of someone’s career.”
Hermida added:
“We care about the musician and that is what I believe makes this label so special. It has artists keeping the balance behind the scenes and representing for the artist before any idea comes to fruition. It has managers fed up with red tape working to make things more streamlined. I am happy and proud of what has been built and look forward to watching this company become a staple in the metal and alternative space.”
According to the company, Arson Theory has already established a global roster spanning emerging artists, established acts, charting releases and RIAA-certified artists, with its services covering both distribution and publishing.
Almasi outlined his long-term goal for the company:
“My goal for Arson Theory is to become the undeniable home for artists in heavy and alternative music who want independence without having to sacrifice partnership.”
The Arson Theory roster currently includes Shadow Of Intent, 3Teeth, All Shall Perish, PeelingFlesh, Carcosa, PSYCHO-FRAME, Boltcutter, Dead Air Divine, Chain Gang, Slow Degrade, Brayton, Kent Osborne, Morgoth Beatz, Shalløw, Weeping Wound, Zero Signal, Charnel, Nervepitch, Piss Ant, Corpse Pile, Traitors, Killing Of A Sacred Deer, Vitals US, 157frq, Vandalheart, Luke Fiadino, Moodring, Keep Close, Still Remains, Evergreen Terrace, The Last Ten Seconds Of Life, Yvncc, Further Within, Gutrectomy and more.
