EXCIDE Streams New Single “Pariah” Ahead of Sophomore Album ‘Bastard Hymns’

Post-hardcore outfit Excide have released their latest single, “Pariah,” from their upcoming sophomore album Bastard Hymns, due November 28th. The band shared a new visualizer video for the track, giving fans a first look at the song’s sound and vibe.

Vocalist Tyler Washington explained the song’s meaning and creation:

“Lyrically, ‘Pariah’ is an inward reflection on growing up feeling like you never fit in—struggling with the religion and politics of family and friends, and wondering if you’ll ever find your place. The song’s development was unexpected. We started with a big chorus hook, aiming for a radio rock feel, but eventually scrapped that idea and pieced it together naturally with Austin Coupe. That approach led to unique elements like a weirdly-timed two-step riff, layered acoustic guitars, and a Soundgarden-inspired bridge featuring my favorite vocal take to date. It feels right that the song stands on its own, reflecting the lyrics and offering a little sonic detour.”
