Forbidden will head out on their upcoming U.S. tour with Heathen and Void without drummer Chris Kontos and bassist Matt Camacho.
The trek begins October 23, the same day the Bay Area thrash veterans will release their first new album in 16 years, ‘Forbidden’.
According to the band, both Kontos and Camacho are sitting out the tour for personal reasons. Forbidden asked fans to respect their privacy while confirming that both musicians are expected to return to the lineup in 2027 for a full slate of touring in support of the new record.
“They both have personal reasons that they can’t make this trip. Please respect their privacy as we do and support their decision.”
In their place, Eli Lucas will handle drums while Avery Thurman of Blind Illusion will take over on bass.
Lucas previously finished as the runner-up in Forbidden’s international search for a new drummer in 2011, ultimately losing out to Sasha Horn. The band noted that Lucas has since established himself as one of the Bay Area’s top drummers.
Thurman, meanwhile, is a 21-year-old bassist who has been performing with Blind Illusion. Forbidden praised his technical ability and stage presence ahead of the upcoming run.
The band have already been rehearsing with both replacements and plan to perform a set covering much of their history, with approximately 18 songs rotating in and out throughout the tour.
The run begins October 23 in Las Vegas, NV, and will conclude November 22 in Los Angeles, CA.
