Glare’s ‘Sunset Funeral: Live In McAllen’ VHS Concert Film Quickly Sells Out

Texan shoegaze outfit Glare are continuing to lean into nostalgic aesthetics, and fans have responded in a big way. The band’s newly released VHS concert film, ‘Sunset Funeral: Live In McAllen’, has already sold out shortly after becoming available.

The release arrives as part of the celebration surrounding the one-year anniversary of the group’s debut album ‘Sunset Funeral’. Known for embracing early-internet era visuals — including their MySpace-inspired website sunset-funeral.com — the band pushed even further into retro territory by issuing the live performance exclusively on VHS.

The 45-minute concert film was recorded on September 12th, 2025 at the Cine El Rey Theatre in the band’s hometown of McAllen, TX. Director Derek Rathbun helmed the shoot, capturing the band performing the album in full for a hometown audience.

Despite the antiquated format and a $49.99 USD price tag, the limited pressing quickly sold out, signaling strong demand from collectors and fans alike. At present, the release appears to be available only in VHS form, leaving those who missed out waiting to see whether a digital version will surface in the coming months.
