Hatebreed appear close to delivering new material, with guitarist/vocalist Frank Novinec revealing that the band’s ninth studio album is essentially finished and currently on track for release this year.
The veteran Connecticut metalcore group have not issued a new full-length since ‘Weight Of The False Self’ in 2020, but Novinec recently discussed progress on the upcoming effort during an appearance on the ‘Hardlore’ podcast. According to him, work on the record has largely wrapped up.
“Pretty much” done.
While brief, the update confirms the band’s current intention to roll the album out in 2026, signaling their longest gap between studio releases to date.
The new record also arrives amid a major shift in the band’s lineup. Longtime bassist Chris Beattie was dismissed in November 2024 — a move that escalated into a legal dispute and marked a significant change in the band’s creative structure. Beattie and frontman Jamey Jasta had historically been central to the songwriting process, a dynamic Novinec addressed in the same conversation.
“I think I have one riff on one song. It was always Chris and Jamey writing the music. That’s it. From day one, it’s Chris and Jamey. They’re the guys [who wrote all the music] from day one, for the most part.”
How that shift ultimately impacts the sound of the forthcoming release remains to be heard, but the album will represent a new chapter for the band both creatively and structurally. With recording largely complete, attention now turns toward official release details and the first preview of new material.
