Just days before Hellfest NJ is scheduled to kick off, fresh uncertainty has emerged surrounding the location of the long-running hardcore and metal festival.
Earlier this month, organizers announced that the event — featuring acts including Hatebreed, Glassjaw, Disembodied, Suicide Silence, and Earth Crisis — had been moved from The Dome at Adventure Crossing in Jackson, New Jersey to Maggie’s Fairgrounds (Pine Park) in Lakewood following issues stemming from New Jersey’s recent crackdown on so-called “specialty events.”
However, on Tuesday, Maggie’s Fairgrounds publicly disputed that arrangement, posting a statement on social media claiming the venue would not be hosting the three-day festival.
“Notice: contrary to what is posted elsewhere, the 3-day Hellfest scheduled July 3-5 is NOT being held at Maggie’s or in Pine Park. We have no further information regarding this event.”
The statement has left fans searching for answers with less than two weeks remaining before the festival is slated to begin. As of this writing, Hellfest NJ organizers have not publicly addressed the venue’s claims or announced an alternate location.
The festival is currently scheduled for July 3-5 and boasts a lineup featuring some of hardcore and metal’s biggest names, though the status of the event now appears to be in question.
