Hollywood Undead Sample Slayer Classic On New Single “1×1”

Multi-platinum rap rock outfit Hollywood Undead have returned with a new single titled “1×1,” a track that notably incorporates a sample from Slayer’s legendary thrash anthem “Raining Blood.”

Produced by Matt Good (Skrillex, The Haunt), the song blends the band’s signature fusion of rap, rock, and modern production with one of metal’s most recognizable riffs, creating a crossover moment that bridges generations of heavy music.

Speaking about the meaning behind the track, the band shared:

“This song is about resilience. People are always going to doubt you or try to bring you down, but the point is getting back up every time and reminding them you’re still here, and that you can’t be replaced.”

While sampling Slayer may feel surprising to some listeners, hip-hop and rap artists have long drawn influence from heavy metal. One of the earliest and most famous examples came in 1988, when Public Enemy sampled Slayer’s “Angel Of Death” for their track “She Watch Channel Zero?!,” helping establish a longstanding connection between aggressive rap production and metal’s sonic intensity.

With “1×1,” Hollywood Undead continue to expand their sound while paying tribute to one of thrash metal’s most influential bands, further reinforcing the shared DNA between rap and heavy music.
