Idle Heirs (featuring Coalesce‘s Sean Ingram) have unveiled “Momma,” the closing track from their upcoming debut album Life Is Violence, set to drop next Friday, April 11th. Ingram shared the following thoughts about the new song:
“When I came up with the words ‘just a little blood to see it through,’ it felt like the moment I found my voice again after 15 years of silence. It speaks to confronting the thing we fear most—the one thing that could bring us the most change. We spend our lives avoiding it, yet it’s what we must face. This track reflects the struggle with mortality and the acceptance that I’m not always built for what I want to conquer.
Everything feels like a fight, everyone is angry, and we never seem to measure up. But in the end, we realize that the flesh either works or it doesn’t. Josh [Barber] played and recorded ‘Momma’ in a single take on the edge of the Norwegian Sea, with the ocean and local wildlife joining in naturally, no edits. It’s a raw, unfiltered moment that marks the closing of our album.”
