Decessus vocalist Ignacia Fernández brought some melodic death metal to the Miss World 2026 competition in Vietnam this week, performing her band’s song “The Hollow Descent” during the pageant’s talent competition.
Fernández, who also holds the title of Miss World Chile, previously made headlines in 2025 after winning that crown. During the semi-finals of the Chilean competition, she also showcased her musical side by performing a song from Decessus.
While Fernández ultimately did not take home the talent competition victory this time around, her performance provided a decidedly heavier change of pace for the event. Miss World England Grace Richardson claimed first place with her rendition of “Over The Rainbow” from The Wizard Of Oz.
Following her performance, Fernández reflected on the experience, writing:
“A moment I’ll never forget
Getting to bring metal to the @missworld stage and share a part of who I am through music was an incredible experience
Every contestant who took part in the talent competition was extraordinary and unique. The level of talent was truly incredible, and I want to congratulate England on winning first place!
Thank you to everyone, the organization, and my fellow sisters here at MW who cheered me on and made this moment so special”
Fernández’s appearance at Miss World 2026 comes during an increasingly busy year for Decessus, who recently signed with BLKIIBLK and have continued to appear at metal festivals and other live events.
The overall Miss World 2026 winner is expected to be announced next week.
