French avant-garde metal artist Igorrr (aka Gautier Serre) has unveiled the first single, “ADHD,” from his forthcoming fifth studio album Amen, set for release on September 19th via Metal Blade Records. The track is accompanied by an AI-assisted music video, which blends both artificial intelligence and 3D animation, crafted in collaboration with Meat Dept.
Serre described the new song as a deeply autobiographical piece, saying:
“‘ADHD’ starts from one point and spirals into another, with no clear connection except for the person it reflects. It goes from simple thoughts, represented as dots of sound in silence, to a chaotic, pathological crescendo that somehow endures. It just keeps getting worse until everything finally collapses.”
On the use of AI in the video, he added:
“We started the clip in 3D, just like we did for ‘Very Noise,’ but we had so much fun creating bizarre AI-generated visuals that it turned into a mix of both technologies. The music, however, is 100% homemade.”
Meat Dept, who directed the video, shared their take on the process:
“After ‘Very Noise,’ we dove into AI for Igorrr’s ‘ADHD’ video. We used nearly all available tools, mixing proprietary and open-source AI with our 3D techniques. The video represents an experimental therapy for treating ADHD, and it’s packed with references to ‘Very Noise.’ We wanted to push the boundaries of ‘mental cringe,’ blending 1960s James Bond aesthetics with the surreal world of Fantômas. Our goal was to make it oddly pleasurable, encouraging viewers to replay the video like an addictive treat.”
Serre also offered a glimpse into the darker tone of Amen, noting:
“This album is definitely darker than its predecessors, with a heavy and somber atmosphere that Igorrr has never captured before. Recording a real choir in a church helped deepen that vibe, but most of the unique sound comes from the extensive work on instruments and experimental sound design.”
While Amen dives into darker, more ambient territories, Serre reassured fans that the album will still feature the energetic, quirky tracks Igorrr is known for, including “ADHD” and “Blastbeat Falafel,” which provide a contrast to the album’s heavier moments. He concluded, “Tracks like these are necessary—they give you a burst of energy, like a shot of limoncello before the next meal.”
