Milwaukee Metal Fest is beginning to take shape for 2027, with Meshuggah announced as the first headliner for next year’s edition. The resurrected festival will return to The Rave/Eagles Club in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from May 14–16, 2027, with a pre-party planned for May 13 at a venue yet to be announced.
Meshuggah will headline Friday’s festivities as they continue celebrating their 40th anniversary. The Swedish extreme metal pioneers also have a notable history with the festival, having performed at Milwaukee Metal Fest XII on July 25, 1998, during their first visit to the United States.
The newly announced lineup additions also include thrash metal veterans Testament, sludge metal stalwarts Crowbar, doom metal outfit YOB, and grindcore pioneers Pig Destroyer and Repulsion.
The festival’s organizers have confirmed that the Saturday and Sunday headliners have yet to be announced, with additional performers also expected to join the bill.
In a statement announcing the first wave of acts, organizers shared their excitement about bringing Meshuggah back to Milwaukee while marking the fifth year since Milwaukee Metal Fest’s return.
“We’re beyond honored to welcome them back to the Good Land as we celebrate our fifth year since the festival’s triumphant return!”
The organizers also noted that buyers who secured super early bird or early bird tickets would receive free admission to the May 13 pre-party. Public on-sale details and further lineup additions are still to come.
