Insomnium have unveiled another new track from their upcoming tenth studio album, ‘Netherworlds’, with the Finnish melodic death metal veterans now sharing a music video for “Arch Of The Sky.”
The song showcases a more progressive side of the band, incorporating shifting time signatures alongside the contrast between atmospheric passages and heavier sections that has become a hallmark of Insomnium’s sound.
Guitarist/vocalist Ville Friman explained that the track draws from Sámi mythology, specifically a legend involving celestial hunters pursuing a deer across the sky.
“According to the legend, if the deer were ever caught, the world would come to an end as the roof of the sky collapsed.”
The new video was directed by Patric Ullaeus, who has previously worked with artists including Dimmu Borgir and Arch Enemy.
‘Netherworlds’ is scheduled for an October 16 release through Nuclear Blast. The band will begin touring in support of the record with a run of Finnish shows alongside Kaunis Kuolematon, followed by European dates with Amorphis and Unto Others.
