Iron Maiden will not be in attendance at their upcoming Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction this November, with the band confirming they will be on the road during the ceremony.
The legendary British heavy metal outfit is scheduled to be touring Australia on November 14th, the same date as the induction event taking place in Los Angeles, California.
The band’s long-standing relationship with the Rock Hall has often been complicated. Vocalist Bruce Dickinson previously made his feelings clear in a 2018 interview, criticizing the institution in blunt terms.
“I actually think the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame is an utter, complete load of bollocks to be honest with you.”
“It’s run by a bunch of sanctimonious bloody Americans who wouldn’t know rock’n’roll if it hit them in the face. They need to stop taking Prozac and start drinking fucking beer!”
Despite that history, the band responded respectfully after being named an inductee earlier this week, though their touring schedule ultimately takes priority.
Speaking to Billboard, manager Rod Smallwood confirmed the decision, emphasizing that the band’s live commitments come first.
“As the most observant have already noticed, the band will be on tour in Australia around the November date of the induction ceremony…”
“We would like to assure all our fans in Australasia that the Australian and New Zealand dates will remain unaffected.”
Even in their absence, the induction will honor both current and former members of Iron Maiden, recognizing the band’s full legacy across its history.
