Jello Biafra made his return to the stage over the weekend, appearing at Tentacle Fest in San Francisco just months after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke.
The former Dead Kennedys frontman served as host for the June 27 event and also joined Wheelchair Sports Camp onstage for a performance of “Make It Make Sense.” Fan-filmed footage from the show captured Biafra reprising his role on the track, marking one of his first public performances since his health scare earlier this year.
Biafra, 68, suffered a hemorrhagic stroke in March and has spent the past several months recovering. His appearance at Tentacle Fest suggested he has made significant progress in his recovery.
Following the event, Alternative Tentacles — the influential label Biafra co-founded in 1979 — celebrated the moment on social media.
“Not only was TentacleFest was an amazing show, it also featured the return of Jello Biafra to the stage! Check out this clip of Jello coming out to sing ‘Make It Make Sense’ with Wheelchair Sport Camp!”
The label also thanked the fans, venue, and performers who participated in the festival, which featured sets from Wheelchair Sports Camp, Death Hymn Number Nine, Voodoo 5, Vic Bondi And His Issues, and Crisis Actor.
