British heavy metal icons Judas Priest have released a powerful new rendition of Black Sabbath’s classic “War Pigs”, featuring posthumously released vocals from the late Ozzy Osbourne.
The track first arrived on July 2nd, just days before Osbourne’s July 22nd passing. Though Priest were unable to join the ‘Back To The Beginning’ farewell concert for Osbourne and Sabbath due to prior commitments with The Scorpions, this cover serves as their tribute.
Frontman Rob Halford spoke on the loss of his longtime friend, telling Talkin’ Rock with Meltdown that he “curled up in a ball and bawled” after receiving the news.
All proceeds from the song in the UK will go toward The Glenn Tipton Parkinson’s Foundation and Cure Parkinson’s—the latter being a charity Osbourne personally supported. Tipton, Priest’s guitarist, stepped away from touring in 2018 after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s, the same illness Osbourne battled in his later years.
