Kid Rock has once again opened up about his close friendship with U.S. President Donald Trump, revealing that he occasionally calls the president late at night and describing the relationship as giving him “a front-row seat to the greatest shit show on Earth.”
Speaking during a recent interview with Sky News Australia, the outspoken rap-rock and country musician was asked what it’s like being friends with someone “running the world.” Kid Rock didn’t hesitate with his response.
“[It’s] fucking awesome.”
The musician went on to explain that he has a direct line to Trump and occasionally phones him during late-night drinking sessions.
“…It’s one of my late-night drinking tricks. ‘Cause I know when to get him. And he’s so gracious. He always picks up. Or he’ll call and check in, just to shoot the shit most of the time. He’s not calling me to, like, ‘Hey, what should we do in Iran, Bob?’ I don’t get those calls. But I was sitting around having some beers. It’s, like, 11:00, 12:00 on a Friday or Saturday.
I know he’s up. He sleeps like me — he sleeps like five hours. And I’ll be, like, ‘Hey, let’s call the President and bullshit.’ And people will be, like, ‘What?’ And he’ll be, like, ‘Hey, Bob, what’s up?’ And blah, blah, blah. It’s the best. I enjoy the hell out of hanging out with him and talking with him and just having a front-row seat to the greatest shit show on Earth.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Kid Rock defended Trump, saying he believes the president has consistently prioritized the United States above everything else.
“It kills me, the people that don’t see that. They want this level of bullshit we’ve had for — since I’ve been alive, with these politicians, presidents. They’re, like, ‘Well, he’s making so much money while he’s president.’ Like, no shit, ’cause he’s a businessman. He’s smart. He did that before he was president. And I know his heart and soul, his concern is for this country — period. This country first. And I think every leader in any country should be that for their country.”
Kid Rock has remained one of Trump’s most visible supporters in the entertainment world, regularly appearing at campaign rallies and events supporting MAGA-aligned causes. Beyond public appearances, he has also consulted with the Trump administration on legislative matters.
Earlier this year, Kid Rock’s Tennessee property made headlines after two AH-64 Apache helicopters landed there, prompting a military investigation that temporarily sidelined the pilots involved. The Trump administration later ended the investigation and reinstated those personnel. At the time, Kid Rock joked about the situation, saying, “I think they’re gonna be alright, my buddy’s the commander-in-chief.”
The musician later teamed with United States Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth to film promotional footage aboard an AH-64 Apache helicopter, with the video ultimately being incorporated into Kid Rock’s live tour production.
Kid Rock’s relationship with Trump has also drawn criticism over the years. In 2022, he faced scrutiny after claiming during a television interview that Trump had shown him classified maps and asked for his opinion on how to handle North Korea, remarks that prompted questions about potential security concerns.
