Limp Bizkit will no longer be performing in Estonia next spring, as frontman Fred Durst’s past support of Russia has resurfaced and forced the cancellation of the band’s planned May 31st, 2026 show in Tallinn.
Much of Durst’s connection to Russia had fallen out of the spotlight, but it dates back more than a decade. After marrying Ukrainian-born Kseniya Beryazina in 2012, Durst spent considerable time overseas and became increasingly aligned with Russian culture—especially in Crimea, which Russia annexed from Ukraine in 2014.
By 2015, Durst and Beryazina had planned to relocate to Crimea and film pro-Russia/Crimea television content supported by regional officials. That same year, Durst reportedly displayed public support for the annexation by holding up a flag at a concert reading:
“Crimea = Russia.”
This led to Durst being banned from Ukraine for five years. At the time, he defended his position in a now-deleted tweet:
“There are great people everywhere. I have met many Russians, in Russia, that are excited to learn more about America.”
Throughout 2015, Durst also posted numerous videos showcasing Russian culture, including touring a vodka distillery and speaking at a local high school. Following his divorce from Beryazina in 2018, Durst largely ceased public commentary on Russia, though in 2024 he reportedly posted on VKontakte, expressing that he missed performing for his Russian fans.
When LIMP BIZKIT announced their May 2026 Estonia concert, Durst’s past comments resurfaced and drew immediate backlash. The promoter later confirmed the cancellation, stating:
“We inform you that due to circumstances beyond the organizer’s control, the Limp Bizkit concert planned for May 31, 2026, is canceled. Our apologies!”
According to ERR, criticism began almost immediately after the show was announced on November 07th. Estonia’s ministry media advisor Brita Kikkas reaffirmed the country’s position, telling the outlet:
“Estonia supports Ukraine’s territorial integrity and the principle that every last centimeter of Ukrainian territory belongs to Ukraine.”
Kikkas further emphasized that anyone:
“supporting an aggressor state”
would not be welcomed in Estonia or its cultural sphere. Estonian Minister of Foreign Affairs Margus Tsahkna also reiterated the country’s stance:
“My position is clear, and I will repeat it: Russia is the aggressor, and Crimea is occupied by Russia. Those who justify Russia’s aggression and the occupation of a neighboring country are not welcome in Estonia. They have no place on Estonian stages and should not be earning income here.”
