Limp Bizkit returned to the stage last night, November 29th, for their first concert since the October 18th, 2025 death of co-founding bassist Sam Rivers. The passing of Rivers, 48, came as a shock to fans and added to a difficult year for metal that has also claimed the lives of Ozzy Osbourne, Brent Hinds, and others. While the official cause of death has not been released, police reports have provided additional context surrounding Rivers‘ passing.
The band’s statement following Rivers’ death last month referred to him as “the pulse beneath every song, the calm in the chaos, the soul in the sound.” Despite the loss, Limp Bizkit chose to continue their tour, launching the first show of their Latin American ‘Loserville Tour’ at the Estadio Fray Nano in Mexico City, Mexico.
For this show, Kid Not (aka Richie Buxton), songwriting partner and producer for tour opener Ecca Vandal, stepped in as the band’s live bassist. Before the headlining set, a tribute video honoring Rivers was aired, setting the tone for an emotional evening.
Drummer John Otto shared a heartfelt message on social media ahead of the performance:
“Today is going to be tough. A first I never wanted to experience. Especially not now. You’ve been there for so many major firsts in my life. Some of my earliest memories were made with you. We grew up together. Laughed together. Realized our dreams together. And traveled the world together. You’ve always been there. The godfather to my girls, my best friend—my brother. There will never be another you. We’re going to honor the life you lived and the love you spread with every show we play. You’ll always be with us.
Thank you to our fans for all the messages of support and tributes to Sam. It means the world to us.
This one’s for you Sammy.”
Kid Not also shared his own tribute to Rivers following the news of his death:
“You schooled us all in low-end theory, and did it with such a humble, beautiful heart.”
Ecca Vandal, who previously toured with Rivers and Limp Bizkit earlier this year, performed as direct support, with frontman Fred Durst joining her onstage to contribute guest vocals to her 2025 single “Cruising To Self Soothe.”
The originally announced support act YUNGBLUD withdrew from the trek due to unspecified health reasons, with Bullet For My Valentine stepping in to perform a 20th anniversary live celebration of their gold-certified debut The Poison. Also appearing on the bill were 311, Ecca Vandal, rapper Riff Raff, and ‘ghetto metal’ band Slay Squad.
