Papa Roach have been forced to cancel their scheduled appearance at this weekend’s Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, KY, following an unexpected medical emergency involving bassist/vocalist Tobin Esperance.
The multi-platinum nü-metal/alternative rock outfit were scheduled to close out the Life Stage on September 19th. However, after consulting with medical professionals, the band confirmed that Esperance will be unable to perform this weekend.
In a statement shared tonight, Papa Roach explained that Esperance’s health is currently the group’s primary concern and asked fans to respect his privacy.
“AFTER CAREFUL CONSIDERATION AND ADVICE FROM MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS, PAPA ROACH BASSIST TOBIN ESPERANCE WILL BE UNABLE TO PERFORM THIS WEEKEND DUE TO AN UNEXPECTED EMERGENCY. THEREFORE, WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PERFORM AT THIS YEAR’S LOUDER THAN LIFE FESTIVAL, AND WISH EVERYONE THE BEST.
RIGHT NOW, TOBIN’S HEALTH IS OUR IMMEDIATE CONCERN. WE LOOK FORWARD TO WELCOMING HIM BACK ON STAGE IN NOVEMBER AND APPRECIATE THE CONTINUED SUPPORT AND RESPECT FOR HIS PRIVACY DURING THIS TIME.”
The band has not disclosed any further details regarding Esperance’s medical emergency.
Papa Roach are currently expected to resume their live schedule in November, when Esperance is anticipated to return to the stage.
