Avenged Sevenfold vocalist M. Shadows made a surprise onstage appearance with Mr. Bungle last night, February 3rd, during the band’s performance at Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Shadows joined the avant-garde metal icons for a partial rendition of “Retrovertigo,” marking a rare collaborative moment between the two camps.
Mr. Bungle were hand-picked by Avenged Sevenfold as support for their recent Latin American tour, making the guest spot feel like a natural progression rather than a random crossover. Avenged Sevenfold famously covered “Retrovertigo” back in 2017, with Shadows praising Mike Patton at the time as “one of the greatest vocalists of our generation.”
The collaboration had been quietly foreshadowed earlier in the tour. Mr. Bungle resurrected “Retrovertigo” during their January 15th, 2026 show in Zapopan, Mexico, performing the song live for the first time since 2000. That unexpected revival immediately fueled speculation that a joint performance with Shadows could be imminent.
Those suspicions were confirmed during the tour’s final stop in Buenos Aires, when Shadows stepped in to share vocal duties with Patton mid-set. Fan-shot footage of the performance has since surfaced, capturing the rare moment as it unfolded in front of a packed arena.
